Who should attend?

The SMSTS course is a five-day program for site managers and aspiring managers in construction, covering essential health, safety, and environmental legislation. It emphasises risk assessment, control measures, and effective communication to promote a strong safety culture. SMSTS is the industry standard for construction managers. While there are no formal entry requirements, candidates should have or be preparing for a site management role. Previous health and safety knowledge is recommended, and those without experience may benefit from the SSSTS course first.

What topics are covered on a First Aid course?

- manage and implement health, safety and environmental aspects on site, in accordance with current legal provisions and within the context of their management role
- implement new guidance and industry best practice
- develop an understanding of responsibility and accountability for site health, safety, welfare and the environment
- recognise that a safe site is efficient, economical, productive and environmentally friendly.

Certification

The paper consists of 25 questions, selected by CITB, covering all aspects of the course. The exam must be taken at the end of the course.
